Back to school gift bag – tutorial

Hello! I hope you are well. Here in Scotland the school holidays are flying by and the kids will be starting their new year in a couple of weeks. Did you know that the Just A Note stamp set has a “Happy back to school” stamp? When I spotted it, I knew I had to make a back to school gift bag and this was the result…

I also thought this would be a great project to make together with my Nellie’s Stampers team mates in our latest online crafty session. So I sent them all the Country Woods designer series paper, lots of die cuts from the Just A Note set and a little gift to pop inside it too…

This initially caused some confusion, until everyone realised that the petals on the flower are caps that you remove to reveal a highlighter pen nib of that same colour. These colours influenced the die cuts I sent in their packs, using card from the Brights colour collection.

Here’s the second one I made…

As one of our team couldn’t join us online, I thought I’d record a video to share with her and you too…

If you’d like to check out the YouTube tutorial for my back to school gift bag, please click on the image below…

Or if you prefer you can click here to pop over to YouTube and check out today’s project video. If you enjoy watching my video, I’d love you to give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment too. If you haven’t already subscribed to my channel, make sure you do so when you’re there; so you don’t miss out on future videos.

Here’s the one I made in today’s video alongside the other two…

I had to change out the Country Wood DSP for Woven Textures as I ran out of the wood one! I do like the contrast between the neutral DSP and those bright embellishments though.

MEASUREMENTS

To make the back to school gift bag in today’s video you’ll need the following supplies:

  • Woven Textures designer series paper measuring 6″ x 10-1/2″
    • score on the short side at 1″
    • score on the long side at 4″, 5″, 9″ and 10″
  • Basic White card to die cut the note page
    • score/fold on the short side at approx 3/4″
  • Scraps of Brights colour collection card to die cut the decorations
  • Scrap of Gold Foil to die cut decorations
  • Basic White card to stamp and punch the sentiment circle

The finished bag measures 4″ x 1″ x 5″
