Let’s Eat Cake card – Creative Colour Challenge 110

Gosh, I can’t believe there’s another Creative Colour Challenge already, the weeks seem to be flying by in a rush right now! Or is it just me? Anyway, I decided to use this week’s 3 colours for this Let’s Eat Cake card…

about my card

This card could be for a birthday or any other excuse to eat cake – like a Tuesday? Lol.

I stamped the cupcake from Circle Sayings with Smoky Slate ink all over my card layer and then set about colouring them in. I used my Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends to colour the sponge and frosting. As we don’t have Stampin’ Blends in Gorgeous Grape I had to use my Stampin’ Write marker instead. To make up for the lack of blending I simply added a bit of dimension by changing the pressure I used with my Gorgeous Grape marker. The result is that some areas are lighter than others and I think it worked out quite well.

I stamped the sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set with Gorgeous Grape ink and the dotty border with Smoky Slate ink then cut it with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch.

I added some Bubble Bath ribbon from the sheer ribbon combo pack before adding the sentiment over it with dimensionals…

The final touch was some Gorgeous Grape glossy dots. I hope you like the end result and will perhaps give it a try too.

measurements

My card base is Basic White Thick card measuring 29 x 10.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 14.5 cm. My stamped Basic White card layer measures 9 x 13 cm to give a nice big border. You’ll also need a piece of Basic White card measuring at least 6 x 6 cm to stamp and punch the sentiment.
