Hello everyone.
Once upon a time, I used to be a petrol head! Also known as a gear head!! I loved tinkering with cars with my Dad (which is probably why my Mum failed to teach me how to knit) and I used to be involved in safety and timing control for international car rallies; alongside my Dad too. I still love to watch most forms of motor sport but from the comfort of my sofa rather than a cold and wet forrest in winter, lol.
What’s that got to do with card making I hear you ask?! Well it means that I LOVE the muscle car in the Geared Up Garage stamp set and the cogs in the coordinating Garage Gears die set. I’ve used both for today’s card…
I used Smoky Slate card measuring 29 x 10.5 cm, scored and folded at 14.5 cm for my base. I cut a piece of Basic Black card to measure 10 x 14 cm and repeatedly stamped it with the car image in Versamark ink, added clear Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it. I also stamped the card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White card and die cut it. I added the front part to my black layer over an embossed image, trimmed the rest off and added it over another image further down my card.
I cut the gears from Smoky Slate card and distressed them with both Smoky Slate and Basic Gray inks. This really helps to show up some of the awesome detail on the die cuts.
I stamped the sentiment with Basic Gray ink onto Smoky Slate card and cut it with the Tailored Tag punch. I cut another tag from Basic Gray card, cut it in half lengthwise and added it to the back of the stamped one. You’ll notice that I added the oil spill and nuts stamps to the tag too.
I really like the way the mix of heat embossing, die cuts, distressing and stamping work together on this card. I hope you agree.
