Hello and thanks for joining me.
Today’s project is a pizza box to gift chocolate…
I love this Bird Ballad designer series paper even although I’m not really that keen on birds. I don’t do well with flapping wings lol. These little birdies do look sweet though.
The box is made to fit two bars of Thorntons chocolate but would also work well for 4″ x 4″ cards and envelopes…
I rather liked the sturdiness of the reinforced box style boxes I shared last week (click here if you missed them) but if I wanted to reinforce this box I would have needed to use 12″ x 12″ card. So I decided to only reinforce two sides of the base and this meant I could still use A4 card.
I cut my A4 Calypso Coral card to measure 8 & 1/4 inches by 11 & 1/2 inches. Score on the long side at 1 inch, 5 & 1/4 inches, 6 & 1/4 inches and 10 & 1/2 inches.
Score on the short side at 1 inch, 2 inches, 6 & 1/4 inches and 7 & 1/4 inches.
Fold and burnish your score lines and cut using the following template…
With your card in a landscape format, cut up the score lines at the bottom to the second horizontal score line. Turn the card 180 degrees and do the same on the other side. Chop off all of the outer sections except for the 2 shown. Wedge all of your small tabs. I also decided to round the corners of the back of the lid.
Add glue to the tabs with the black circles and form the base of the box then fold over the 2 extra side tabs to cover the joins and reinforce these 2 sides.
Add glue to the remaining 2 tabs to form the lid of the box.
To decorate the box I added a piece of Bird Ballad designer series paper measuring 4 inches by 4 inches to the lid of the box and 4 pieces that each measure 3/4 of an inch by 4 inches to the sides of the base.
I used my Calypso Coral Dark Stampin’ Blend to colour some Silver Metallic Edge ribbon and some Whisper White Baker’s Twine to coordinate with the box. This is a great trick to ensure your ribbon matches your card.
I also made a tag using the Delightful Day stamp set…
The stamp I used actually says ‘treats made with love’ but obviously I didn’t make these treats to I covered the word ‘made’ with washi tape, inked up my stamp with Calypso Coral ink then removed the tape before stamping onto a scrap of Whisper White card. I cut this with my Layering Circles dies.
I used the same dies to cut a larger circle of Calypso Coral card and another Whisper White circle for the back of the tag. I punched a hole at the top and tied the tag to the ribbon on my box with the baker’s twine I’d already coloured.
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project. I’m sure whoever receives this gift will enjoy the chocolates!
I’ve listed the Stampin’ Up! products I’ve used below and you can click the links if you’d like to buy any of them.
