Last weekend I was chatting with one of my lovely local customers about delivering her new catalogue when she mentioned that it was her husband’s 50th birthday that day. Naturally I asked if she’d made him a card to celebrate his birthday but she told me no because “he doesn’t like cards” Yikes!!
So anyway, long story short, she told he he’s ok with funny cards and he brews his own beer. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to make a card from scratch for him, as it was his birthday that day and I already had plans to meet friends etc.
So I dug out this card from my stash and popped it through their letterbox (along with my customer’s brand new catalogue!)
I can’t tell you how delighted I was when she sent me a photo of a beaming husband holding his card and a message to tell me that he absolutely loved it! I count that as a win, I’ve converted a man into a card liker, lol.
You can do it too!
To celebrate my mini victory I made another version using the brilliant new Blueberry Bushel card, designer series paper and ink…
I used a thick whisper white card base then added a layer of Blueberry Bushel card. Then I added strips of In Color 2018-2020 designer series paper (available from 1st June 2018) that I had leftover from making my customer tea bag holders that I sent with their catalogues. I’m glad I saved them.
I stamped the larger bottle from Bubble Over stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink onto Whisper White card and used the Bottles & Bubbles framelits to cut it out.
The stamps for the label come from the same set and again I used a framelit to cut it out.
The finishing touch is to use one of the bottle top framelits to cut out a cap to fit, from Silver Foil card.
The stamps and dies are available as a bundle, with a 10% saving, until 31st May 2018. They’re still available after that, but without the saving when you buy them together.
This is a quick and simple but effective card and may have the power to convert someone else into liking birthday cards! Why not give it a go?
I’ve listed the products I’ve used below, with the exception of the designer series paper as it’s not available yet, but you could just stamp patterns on whisper white card instead if you can’t wait until 1st June to order it.
