Hello everyone.
Today’s card was inspired by this one that I received from Karen Matthews as part of a team postal project swap recently…
I loved the way that Karen had used masking to stamp the flower from Tasteful Touches so that they didn’t overlap and didn’t have any gaps. So much so that I bought the stamp set and dies she used. (Well that was my excuse, lol!)
So I had to give this a try but didn’t want to just copy Karen’s card so I decided to use Calypso Coral and created this card…
I made my usual card base with Whisper White Thick card cut to measure 21 x 14.5 cm then scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm. I cut a piece of Whisper White card ready for stamping that measures 10 x 14 cm.
I stamped the flower onto a few post it notes and fussy cut them so that I could use them to mask the flowers I stamped onto my card layer. The trick is to cut just inside the outline of the stamp so you don’t get a gap or overlap. It’s a neat technique!
I stamped mine around the edges, leaving a gap in the middle that I could cover with my Calypso Coral card cut with the largest of the Stitched Nested Label dies. I then embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.
I stamped my sentiment from the Tasteful Touches stamp set with Calypso Coral ink onto Whisper White card. When I added the extra stamped detail I inked up my stamp, stamped onto a scrap piece of paper and then stamped with the remaining ink onto the Whisper White card. This gives you a softer effect. I then cut this piece with a smaller Stitched Nested Labels die.
I adhered the stamped layer to my card base, then the embossed label. Before adding the sentiment label I added some loops of the gold twine from the Forever Greenery trim combo pack. I added the sentiment label on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals then added some Gilded Gems as my finishing touch.
I enjoyed making this card and I hope I’ve done Karen’s marvellous masking some justice.
