Trying the rubber band technique for a sketch challenge

Hello everyone.

If you are a regular reader then you’ll know that I like a crafty challenge or two! I also love being inspired by my crafty colleagues and friends. That’s one of the best things about being a Stampin’ Up! independent demonstrator; we Inspire, Create and Share.

Three of my fellow independent demonstrators recently set up a new Facebook Group called Craft & Banter and for their first challenge they gave us this layout to work with…

And here’s the card I created…

I was inspired by the lovely Victoria Littlewood of Vickie Lou Designs to try out the rubber band technique – please click here to see her fabulous Thank You card with this technique.

In case you haven’t heard of this technique, you simply add rubber bands to an acrylic block, crossing them over each other, ink it up and stamp it onto card. You can clean it off (I find running under the tap by far the easiest way! then dry off before you use it again) ink it up and stamp again – lots of inky fun for all the family! There’s no way you can make any mistakes.

You can use any size of block and I actually used a combination that I’ve shown in the Product List below.

I used Very Vanilla card to stamp on and for my card base. I used Smoky Slate, Mango Melody and Blackberry Bliss inks for my rubber band stamping and the same colours for card layers. I embossed the Smoky Slate card with the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder for an extra texture on my card.

I used the 2″ circle punch on more of my rubber band stamped card.

The sentiment is from the soon to retire Label Me Bold stamp set and I used Blackberry Bliss ink onto Very Vanilla card and trimmed it to fit.

I really like this card layout so don’t be surprised if I use it again sometime. Why not ask to join Craft & Banter so you can join in with future challenges and get lots of crafting inspiration too? The more the merrier.

I’ve listed the products I’ve used below and you can click on the links to start your Stampin’ Up! shopping with me. Don’t forget to check out the bargains in the Clearance Rack and the discounted Last Chance Products – get them while you can.

Happy crafting,

Heather x
