Ok, I admit it, this box was a happy accident! Lol. I was trying to make something a little bit different but I cut a diagonal piece out of the wrong section and decided that rather than waste the card I’d carry on with it. And I like the result enough to share with you…
Now Dapper Denim and Crumb Cake card might not instantly make you think of flowers but I think the stamp from the Perennial Birthday set is so nice for making your own designer series paper and works well on this box. The sentiment is from the same set.
As this box wasn’t actually planned I don’t have full instructions but if you’d like them, let me know and I’ll try to recreate it!
The finished box has a 2 inch square base and is 3 inches tall so it will fit lovely little gifts for someone special.
I used 2 pieces of Dapper Denim measuring 8.25 x 5.5 inches (so you can get both from 1 sheet of A4)
For the lid part I scored on the long side at 2,4,6 & 8 inches & on the short side I scored at 0.5 & 2.5 inches.
For the base, the score lines were on the long side at 1 7/8ths, 3 3/4, 5 5/8ths, 7 1/2 inches (so that each panel is 1/8th of an inch narrower and the top will slide on easily). On the short side there were at 0.5 & 2.5 inches.
The cutting out part was where it all went hazy! Oops
EDITED – here’s the cutting template for the lid! The base is the same except that you don’t cut out the v shape! Cut along the dashed lines (- – – – -) and remove the shaded sections
Glue the narrow strip along the side to the other short edge. Glue the 3 marked tabs along the long edge and fold in the tabs either side of the lid and tuck in the flap at the front of the lid.
The Crumb Cake panels were:
- 4 measuring 2.75 x 1.75 inches
- 1 measuring 1.75 x 1.75 inches
- All were stamped using Dapper Denim ink.
I used the Layering Circle dies for the sentiment and popped it up using dimensionals. Finally I added a bow from 3 lengths of Linen Thread and 3 of the blue glitter enamel dots to the centres of random flowers.
