Hello everyone.
On Sunday I showed you a card I created with Stampin’ Write Markers and yesterday’s card was coloured with Stampin’ Blends, so it only seems right to follow that up with Watercolor Pencils. This colouring medium is a little more soft and gentle than the previous two so I chose to use the Dragonfly Garden stamp set and Dragonflies punch to create this card…
When you use Watercolor Pencils you’ll get the best results when you stamp your images for colouring with Stazon inks. You should always use Stazon Cleaner too, to take the best care of your precious stamps. Blender Pens are awesome for smoothing out any lines from your pencils and softening the colours further.
Now you may have notice that I’ve got 3 coloured dragonflies on my card but the stamp set only has 2 large dragonflies to colour. The punch cuts both of these but also a little one too. When I was stamping I accidentally dropped my stamp and ruined my nice clear image. However, I turned that to my advantage by colouring part of it and cutting it with the small part of the punch…
Isn’t that sweet!! In case you’re wondering, I used a combination of Gorgeous Grape, Pacific Point, Balmy Blue and Bermuda Bay pencils for my dragonflies. I used Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral and Flirty Flamingo pencils for the floral image.
The marks you see on my grid paper are from me cleaning the tip of my Blender Pen before moving onto another colour. Normally a quick swipe is all you need for it to start being clear again.
My card base is Basic White Thick card measuring 29 x 10.5 cm, scored and folded at 14.5 cm. My Basic White stamped layer is 10 x 14 cm. I added some of the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim around the stamped layer and tied it in a bow before securing this layer to the card base.
I stamped the sentiment in Pacific Point ink and added one of the ever so cute Ladybug Trinkets…
I only adhered the middles of my dragonflies so their wings and tail have a bit of height.
I enjoyed the relaxation of colouring with my Watercolor Pencils and really should do this more often. I’ve listed the products I’ve used for my card below so you can click on the links to visit my Stampin’ Up! online shop. The stamp set and punch can be purchased separately but if you buy them with the bundle code you save 10%.
When you shop with me I will send you a handmade card and little gift as a thank you (unless you select no contact of course!) but if you also use my current Host Code I’ll add in an extra gift of some Stampin’ Up! product too. Please see my Host Code page for more details.
Happy crafting,
Heather x
