Today I’m taking part in theTechnique Tuesday blog hop for the first time, so you may have joined me from Kisha Cook’s blog. The theme for this month’s blog hop is the whitewash technique. This is a technique I’ve used a few times but not for a while. So I jumped at the excuse to make this Layers Of Beauty whitewash card…
ABOUT THE TECHNIQUE
The whitewash technique involves stamping an image onto card that is typically darker than you would normally use for stamping and colouring. To get the colour to show up against a darker background you first wash the areas to be coloured with diluted white ink, Once that has dried you can use a variety of colouring methods to make your image pop. I chose to use Stampin’ Write Markers for my card.
ABOUT MY CARD
I chose to have a Basic White card base and then selected Copper Clay card to stamp on. I stamped the large image from Layers Of Beauty with versamark ink, added copper embossing powder then heat set it. The image doesn’t have solid outlines so my whitewash may not have been as neat as I’d like. But that’s all part of playing around with techniques!
I used Petunia Pop, Peach Pie and Shy Shamrock Stampin’ Write markers to colour the flowers and leaves. But I didn’t even attempt some of the smaller parts, leaving the copper heat embossing to shine out there.
I also stamped my sentiment with versamark but this time I added white embossing powder…
My final touch was to add some Iridescent Pearls for some extra shine.
