Stripes & Splatters thank you card – Creative Colour Challenge 129

about my CARD

I recently got the Stripes & Splatters 3D embossing folders as a Sale-A-Bration free product, with a £45 spend. This pack of 2 narrow folders is available in the Annual Catalogue as well as being one of the Sale-A-Bration freebie choices. I cut a narrow strip of the card in each of this week’s 3 colours. Before embossing them with the Stripes & Splatters folders, I added the same shade of ink to the folders. This means that the raised bits of the embossed card stays the normal card colour but the rest goes a darker shade. I played around with just swiping my ink pad across the embossing folder (for the Cajun Craze piece) and adding ink with a brayer. I found the brayer gives a much more even result.

Before adding the strips of card to my card base I added some ink splatters. I used Pecan Pie and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends to do this, which gives a nice subtle effect. I simply glue the card strips to the card base, overlaying them a little. Then I stamped the sentiment from Timeless Arrangements with Pecan Pie ink…

My finishing touch was to aadd some Cork Rounds. I think the texture of these work well with the embossed card pieces. What do you think?
