Hello! I hope you are well.
‘Big’ birthdays deserve a stepped up card and cards for close friends need to be extra special too. So when its your special friend’s 60th birthday it needs to be a bit of a wow card, doesn’t it? So I designed this 60th birthday card just for them!
This is the card I made for my lovely friend and Stampin’ Up! team mate Elaine, on behalf of our upline Valerie and me…
I hope I ticked the ‘wow’ box with this one!
Instead of my usual card size, I stepped up to a 5″ x 7″ base, to make room for all those bright die cuts but still keep plenty white space too.
I used the Timeless Arrangements dies to cut LOTS of pieces from the following card colours:
- Highland Heather
- Gorgeous Grape
- Daffodil Delight
- Melon Mambo
- Berry Burst
- Granny Apple Green
- Old Olive
My sentiment was cut with the Wanted To Say dies and Melon Mambo card. I used the Alphabet A La Mode dies for the 60, with Berry Burst card.
I cut 2 of the rectangles from the Timeless Arrangements dies and glued the foliage die cuts to one of them, working around the edges and layering them up. To make sure that the top rectangle did’t dip too much in the middle, I had to add 2 dimensionals to the centre of it before adding the top one!

Finally, I added some Glossy Dots in Gorgeous Grape and Daffodil Delight and hid some Brushed Brass Butterflies in the die cuts.
As I’d got a bit carried away with all of those die cuts, I knew it would be difficult to fit the card into an envelope, so I made a box for it…
I chose the Masterfully Made designer series paper to decorate the box lid and continue the floral theme. This then helped me decide on the card colours to use. I decided to use Sweet Sorbet and Crushed Curry for the lid and used Pretty Peacock for the box base.
I used Sweet Sorbet metallic ribbon and In Color pearls to embellish the box lid too.
Elaine received lots of lovely handmade cards from her crafty friends and I know that she appreciated each and every one of them. You can’t underestimate the joy a handmade card can give. So remember, don’t just make them, send them too! #makeacardsendacard
