Please CLICK HERE to find out more about this challenge and to join in the fun with this week’s 3 colours.
I make absolutely no apologies for having 2 blog posts in a row using the Nature’s Prints bundle! After using it to decorate my latest gift box it was still on my desk when I started playing with this week’s 3 colours on some Fluid 100 watercolour paper. I also had a gorgeous card that I’d recently received from the lovely Anthony Assadourian for inspiration.
Here’s the resulting card…
I sprayed the watercolour paper with water, added the 3 inks to it, splashed it with more water and left it to dry so I could die cut the wreath and a few extra pieces…
The 3 colours really blend well with this technique,
Here’s the card I received from Anthony that was the inspiration for my card layout…
I loved so many elements from Anthony’s card and it was really tempting to do a straight copy, but I forced myself not to! I stamped my background Pale Papaya card with the splatter stamp from the set, rather than the foliage. I also chose to use the small flower stamp then die cut it, instead of the gorgeous larger image Anthony used. I LOVE Anthony’s embossed deckled rectangle and will definitely use this on another card.
I made my card panels a bit larger and they are as follows:
- Pale Papaya card base – 21 x 14.5 cm, scored & folded on the long side at 10.5 cm
- Blushing Bride – 8.5 x 12.5 cm
- Very Vanilla – 8 x 12 cm
The vanilla is glued to the pink layer. I added some of the sumptuous Pale Papaya faux velvet ribbon to the back of the card layers with tear n tape but also secured them with a staple. I then added this whole layer to the base with dimensionals…
I stamped both the flower and sentiment with Crushed Curry ink onto Very Vanilla card and my finishing touches were some Pale Papaya opal rounds.
Here’s my card beside Anthony’s for comparison – I think I still prefer his!!
