My first play with the Beautiful Thistle bundle

Hello, I hope you are well.

One of the first products to go on my shopping list from the upcoming mini Stampin’ Up! catalogue, that launches on 5 January 2023, was the Beautiful Thistle stamp set and matching dies. As a demonstrator I get to pre-order products and ordered this the first day of the pre-order period; as I wanted to get my hands on it as soon as possible. Since then it has been sitting in a big brown box that took a while to get to me and then when it arrived I was unwell and unable to craft for days! Just my luck!!

It was worth the wait though and this is the first card I’ve made with it…

I stamped that gorgeous big thistle with Stazon ink on Fluid 100 paper, then I used water painters with Old Olive, Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape ink to colour the image. There’s so much detail on this stamp! I cut it with the matching die but there’s a great selection of other dies in the set that I look forward to playing with too.

I wanted to keep the card quite clean but felt it needed something in the background and chose to emboss the layer behind the thistle with the Merry Melody embossing folder. I can’t read music so I can easily convince myself it’s Flower Of Scotland, lol.

I stamped the sentiment with Gorgeous Grape ink and fussy cut it and glued it to the die cut thistle before adding it to the card with mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My final touch was a bow made with 2 lengths of white baker’s twine that I frayed at the ends. Here’s a close up…

I hope you like this new stamp as much as I do.
