I love a milk carton style box as they are so versatile for little gifts and can be easily resized as necessary. My favourite box fits a votive candle and I’ve made lots of them over the years for all sorts of occasions. I though it was time for a revamp with the Artfully Composed suite and here’s the result….
This was actually one of the projects we made at our latest face to face paper crafting class a couple of days ago. I gave the class a small Spring/Summer home inspiration candle by Yankee to pop in their box, ready to gift.
Here’s what I used for my box:
- Just Jade card measuring 8-1/2″ x 6″
- score on the long side at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″ (turn 90 degrees clockwise)
- score on the short side at 2″, 4″ and 5-1/4″
- score on the long side at 3″ and 7″ from the top to the first horizontal score line only
- 4 pieces of Artfully Composed DSP that each measure 1-3/4” x 1-3/4”
- 2 pieces of Artfully Composed DSP that each measure 1” x 1-3/4”
- Scraps of Basic White card, Just Jade and Evening Evergreen card for stamping and die cutting the decorations and sentiment
- White Baker’s Twine to close the top of the box
I used a die from Tropical Layers with both Just Jade and Evening Evergreen card to create the decoration for the front. Some of the ladies at the class used the leftover pieces to add another leaf to the back of their box and some used different colours from the DSP. I love that they are all inspired put their own spin on my projects!
I stamped the thank you sentiment from Artfully Layered with Evening Evergreen ink onto Basic White card and fussy cut around it.

The dimensions are slightly different in this version and of course the decoration is very different but the process is pretty much the same, so I hope this will help
