Hello everyone.
Today I’d like to show you a sympathy card I made for a technique challenge and to send to a dear friend…
The lovely Tricia Smith set us a challenge in her Facebook Group to design our own inky background and to then use it on a project. I decided to use the emboss resist technique for my background.
I cut a piece of Whisper White card to measure 6 x 14.5 cm and stamped it with Versamark ink on a leaves stamp from the Soft Spring Host set. I added Clear Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it.
I then added Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron and Pool Party inks to it with make up blending brushes (but you could use sponges or daubers). The ink doesn’t stick to the embossed parts so you get a nice soft background to your leaves. I then trimmed this piece to measure 5 x 14.5 cm so I could a 1 cm wide piece for the inside of the card too.
My card base is Whisper White Thick card measuring 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm. I stamped this with the branches stamp from the Soft Spring Host set using Mint Macaron ink.
I cut a piece of Soft Sea Foam card to measure 5.5 x 14.5 cm and added my stamped and inked panel to it. I added a piece of Mint Macaron ribbon and tied it with a knot.
The words are all from the Well Said stamp set and are stamped onto Whisper White card. I stamped 2 with Mint Macaron ink, trimmed them to fit and backed them with Pool Party card. I stamped the 3 with Pool Party ink and backed it with Mint Macaron ink; this one was added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensional on top of the ribbon.
I stamped a sentiment from the Well Said stamp set to the inside with Pool Party ink and added my little strip of inked card too…
I like the soft and subtle effect you get with this technique and these colours. I hope you do too.
If you fancy having a go at creating your own inky background why not join Tricia’s Facebook Group and join in – everyone is welcome!
