Hello.
I’ve risen to Tricia Smith’s challenge in her “Crafty Stamping Club – Smithys Stampers” Facebook group to design a card or project with a male theme. In fact I made both a card and a box…
I’ve combined 2 of the marvellous masculine products from Stampin’ Up! for these projects; A Good Man stamp set and the Country Club designer series paper.
These would be equally great for Father’s Day or your Dad’s birthday and I adore the sentiment on the card! I definitely did grow up loved, and even although my father is no longer with us, I will always be a Daddy’s “girl”
The box is a perfect fit for a miniature of your Dad’s favourite tipple…
The box is made with a piece of Garden Green card measuring 8″ x 6-1/2″, scored on the short side at 1-1/2″, 3″, 4-1/2″ and 6″. Then scored on the long side at 1-1/2″, 6″ and 7-1/2″.
Here’s the cutting guide, and as you’ll see I’ve added a piece of Country Club designer series paper measuring 6″ x 4-1/2″ to the mid section…
Once I’d assembled the box by gluing the side tab to the back of the first section and then folding and gluing the bottom tabs, I decorated what would normally be the back of the box to make it look like a shirt. I added a piece of Garden Green card measuring 4-1/2″ x 1/4″ down the middle. I then cut 2 pieces of Garden Green card to each measure 3/4″ square. I made a small pencil mark on the bottom edge at 3/16″ (the middle) and used that to cut up to the top corners to make a pennant shape for the collar. I added Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots as buttons on the collar and the front.
I stamped the sentiment from the A Good Man stamp set in Night of Navy ink onto Whisper White card and cut it with my 1-1/8″ scalloped circle punch. I used my 1-3/8″ punch on Night of Navy card and glued both to the top of the lid.
For my coordinating card I stamped the main image with Memento ink onto Whisper White card and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I then cut this and some Garden Green card with Stitched Rectangle dies. I used the same card and ink for the sentiment and again used the Stitched Rectangle dies; I used the larger one twice to reduce the length of the backing for the sentiment.
My card base is Whisper White Thick card measuring 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm. I then added Garden Green card measuring 10 x 14 cm and Country Club paper measuring 9 x 13 cm. I added my stamped and backed panel and then popped the sentiment up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally, I continued the sentiment inside…
I know that a lot of paper crafters tend to find it more difficult to make masculine cards and gifts but there are so many male themed stamp sets available from Stampin’ Up! that they really do make it easier.
Why not join in Tricia’s Facebook Group and have a good at the latest challenge? The more the merrier!
I’ve listed the products I used for both the card and the box below. You can click on the links to shop with me for all your Stampin’ Up! needs. I would be honoured to be your independent demonstrator.
Happy crafting,
Heather x
