Hello, I hope you are well.
Whilst shopping on line for a gift for someone recently, I saw a lovely little trinket tray in the shape of a leaf and it immediately made me think of the Tropical Chic stamp set. So, I made a box for the tray (well I just HAD to buy it!) that looks like this…
And here’s the gift inside…
Isn’t it a great match?
To make the box I used Call Me Clover card, which is sadly retiring in June 2020, so get it while you can. My card measures 10-3/4″ x 8″. Score on the long side at 3/4″, 1-1/2″, 5″, 5-3/4″, 9-1/4″ and 10″. Score on the short side at 3/4″, 1-1/2″, 6-1/2″ and 7-1/4″. This gives a box that measures 5″ x 3-1/2″ x 3/4″, with reinforced sides.
Here’s the cutting guide, I’ve added in some extra cutting lines after I took the photograph as these make the corners less bulky and a bit more neat…
To assemble the lid you need to add glue to the outside of the little tabs and fold them in as shown below…
Then add glue to the side panels on the lid and fold them in to reinforce the 3 sides…
To assemble the bottom tray of the box you need to add glue to the 4 small tabs and fold them in to attach to the sides…
Then finally, add glue to the top side panels and fold them down to reinforce each of the 3 sides…
To decorate I stamped a whole sheet of A4 Whisper White card with the leaf stamps from Tropical Chic using Call Me Clover, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green and Soft Sea Foam inks…
I cut a piece of this for the belly band of the box, this measures 4-1/2″ x 10″ and I scored the long side at 2-1/2″. I started with the score line at the bottom front edge of the box and then creased the card at each edge in turn, to make sure that it was a close but not too tight fit. Score each crease line to make sure it’s straight and need and then glue the join at the bottom.
I cut another piece of the card to measure 4-3/4″ x 3-1/4″ to add to the inside of the box then added my gift, closed the box and put the belly band back on.
I added some Silver Metallic edged ribbon and a gift tag made with the Tropical dies. I cut the leaf outline in both Call Me Clover and Whisper White card and cut the top detail from Granny Apple Green card and glued the 3 layers together. I added this to the ribbon with Whisper White Baker’s Twine.
I still had some to the stamped card left over so pop back tomorrow to see what I did with it.
I’ve listed the products I’ve used for this project below. You can click on any of the links to start shopping for Stampin’ Up! products with me. I would be honoured to be your independent demonstrator.
Happy crafting,
