Hello.
The weather in Scotland is far from Tropical right now but the colour challenge set by Ian Potter in the Stampin’ For All Facebook group made me immediately grab the Tropical Chic stamp set…
I’ll be honest, I was looking for an excuse to use this set anyway! The new catalogue that launches on 3 January 2020 includes a brand new Tropical Oasis Suite that is just so bright and fun but reminded me that I hadn’t used my Tropical Chic stamps and Tropical dies in ages. So here’s my remedy for that…
I used Whisper White Thick card for my base, that measures 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5cm. I added a layer of Calypso Coral card that measures 10 x 14 cm and cut a piece of Whisper White to measure 9.5 x 13.5 cm and stamped it the 3 leaves from the stamp set with Garden Green ink. Clearly my ink pad needs topped up with ink but I actually like the distressed and faded look for my background.
I stamped another piece of Whisper White card measuring 2.5 x 9.5 cm with Blushing Bride ink and the stripes stamp and added this to the other stamped layer.
I stamped the flower in Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral ink and a blend of the 2 inks and cut them with the Tropical Dies. I also used the dies to cut the leaves from Garden Green card. These leaves are done in 2 parts and then glued together.
I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink onto Whisper White card and cut it with one of the ovals from the Stitched Shapes dies.
The leaves were glued to the card and the flowers were glued to the edge of the oval which was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added 3 pearls to the oval as a finishing touch.
This week’s colour challenge was just set today so you have plenty of time to join in. We’d love to see what you create. If you don’t have these colours you can use something similar.
I hope you like my card. I’ve listed the products I used below. You can click on any of the links to visit my online Stampin’ Up! shop at any time.
