Emboss resist card featuring Stampin’ Up! Forever Fern

Hello everyone.

I’ve combined one of my favourite stamp sets from the Annual catalogue with my favourite new tools from the January to June 2021 mini catalogue. Forever Fern and the new blending brushes resulted in this card…

My top panel on my card is Basic White card measuring 9.5 x 13.5 cm and I used sticky notes to mask off the top section of the card before using my Forever Fern stamps with Versamark ink and White Stampin’ Emboss powder to add a section of foliage. Once I’d heat set this and allowed it to cool I masked off the bottom part of the stamped area too.

I added Soft Sea Foam ink to the stamped area first of all with my blending brush and then added Pear Pizzazz ink from the top left corner and Mint Macaron to the bottom right corner, blending both towards the centre. I then moved the lower mask a bit further down and added my blended inks in opposite directions from the first part for some contrast.

Confession time!! I had originally thought about just stamping a sentiment onto the card layer but I’d managed to get a tiny smudge of ink on it and knew I had to get inventive to cover it up. So I heat embossed the HELLO onto a narrow strip of Pear Pizzazz card and added that to the card, along with a narrower strip of Mint Macaron card to tie in with the 2 bands of the ink blending.

I really like the result. Necessity is the mother of invention after all! Lol.

All that was left to do then was to mount this piece to a layer of Mint Macaron card measuring 10 x 14 cm and finally onto my card base. The base is Basic White Thick card measuring 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm.

I love the way the heat embossing shines through the ink blending. Ihope you’ve enjoyed today’s card and will give this technique a try.
