Hello everyone.
It’s been such a while since I took part in a colour challenge and a long time since I used the Lovely You stamp set and Lovely Labels Pick A Punch; so I killed those 2 birds with this 1 card…
These are the colours for our challenge:
These colours are all in the Neutrals colour collection. I use Night of Navy lots but don’t often reach for the other two, so this was a bit of a challenge for me.
For my stamping with the Lovely You stamp set I actually used the Stampin’ Write Markers instead of ink pads. This meant that I could colour the flower with Merry Merlot and the stem with Mossy Meadow, even although they are both on the same stamp. You simply add the ink with the marker directly to the parts of the stamp you choose. I did the same with the sentiment, colouring most of it with Mossy Meadow and just the word heart with the Merry Merlot.
I was tempted to use lots of my favourite Night of Navy when deciding on layers for my card but resisted! I made my card base with Whisper White thick card measuring 21 x 14.5 cm; scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm. I then added a layer of Merry Merlot card measuring 10 x 14 cm, followed by Whisper White card measuring 8 x 14 cm.
I cut my stamped flower with a die from Tasteful Labels and cut a piece of Night of Navy card to measure 4.5 x 6 cm. I added the Night of Navy card to my card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then did the same with the stamped piece, so it’s double height…
My sentiment was stamped on a piece of Whisper White card that is 3/4″ wide and I used the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch to cut the end on the right. I cut a piece of Mossy Meadow card 1″ wide and used the punch on on end of that too then glued them together. I tucked the left end under my Night of Navy rectangle.
I felt it needed a little bit more and decided to add the little heart from Merry Merlot card. I used the Dog Builder punch for this but any small heart punch or die would do the trick.
I do like the end result and I hope that you do too.
