Hello everyone.
Today’s project is this lovely box…
When you open the lid it looks like this…
You can then fold out the sides to reveal this…
The four little boxes are 1-1/2″ cubes so I added chocolates to mine…
I used the stunning Noble Peacock Speciality Designer Series Paper for the decoration on the sides and lids and my base is the coordinating Blueberry Bliss card.
Want to make your own version? Then here’s what you’ll need:
- card for the main box base that measures 7-1/4″ x 7-1/4″ – scored on all 4 sides at 2 inches
- card for the main box lid that measures 4-7/8″ x 4-7/8″ – scored on all 4 sides at 3/4″
- Patterned Foil for the top of the main box lid that measures 3″ x 3″
- Patterned Foil for the sides of the main box lid – 4 pieces that each measure 1/2″ x 3″
- Foil for the inside of the box base that measures 3″ x 3″
- Whisper White card for the inside of the box base that measures 2-3/4″ x 2-34″ – for stamping your sentiment on
- card for the 4 small box bases, each piece measures 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ – scored on all 4 sides at 1-1/2″
- 4 pieces of patterned foil for the small box lids, each piece measures 2-9/16″ x 2-9/16″ – scored on all 4 sides at 1/2″
- scrap pieces of card for your decorations
For the main box base I cut out all 4 corner sections so the sides can fold down flat. I added some of the Noble Peacock speciality DSP to each side. To make the lid I cut the score lines at each corner and cut the tabs into wedges. I prefer to do this in a pinwheel pattern as shown below…
To make the little boxes I cut up the score lines the same pinwheel fashion but I also cut the tabs in half so that the boxes aren’t too bulky and are easier to glue together.
The little box lids are made in the same way as the larger box lid. It’s not at all difficult it just requires a fair bit of snipping. Why make 1 box when you can make 5? Lol.
I used the Delightful Day stamp set for my sentiment, flowers and foliage for the base of the box. I stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink onto Whisper White card and then used Old Olive ink for the foliage. I added this onto my piece of Noble Peacock Foil Sheet and then glued it to the centre of the base.
I then glued each of the little boxes to the sides of the base. You need to glue the base of the little box to either the left or right corner of the larger box sides – once you’ve decided on left or right you need to do the same on all four sides, if you mix and match it won’t work! Position each small box near the edge and the score line of the base of the larger box, leave a little gap so that your lid fits in; 1/8th of an inch will be fine.
To fill in the space beside the little boxes I added flowers and leaves created with the free Sale-A-Bration products Lovely Lily Pad stamp set and Lily Pad Dies. I stamped the flowers with Versamark ink onto Blueberry Bushel card, added White Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it. I stamped the leaves onto Old Olive card and heat embossed them too. I then used the Lily Pad dies to cut them all out.
Once I’d added my chocolates etc I folded up the sides of the box and put the lid on to secure the sides. I tied the box with Silver Metallic Edge ribbon in a bow on top.
To create a gift tag I stamped the large lily with Versamark ink onto Blueberry Bushel card, added White Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it. I cut this with the coordinating Lily Pad die and also cut a second one from Whisper White card to add to the back. I punched a 1/8″ hole at the top and threaded through 6 lengths of Silver Metallic Thread that I’d twisted together, to tie the tag to my ribbon.
Before I go, I have a little tip for you. Wherever possible, ink the edges of the Noble Peacock Speciality DSP with Blueberry Bushel ink; as the DSP has a white back and I found it looked a bit distracting to have a white edge showing.
