Combining Stampin’ Up! and Sea Glass for Christmas

Hello.

For those of you that don’t know me, I live right on the East Lothian coastline (just a few miles from Edinburgh). One of the best local places for finding good quality sea glass in abundance, is literally a stones throw from my house.

I’ve collected quite a bit of it over the years and was looking on Pinterest for some ideas to use it and came across a very simple Christmas card using 3 pieces as holly leaves, with just a stamped greeting. It sparked the creative process and as my sea glass is Scottish I thought I’d combine it with the Wrapped In Plaid designer series paper to create this touch of tartan card…

It’s not the most practical card for posting but will be lovely to hand deliver to family and friends.

I made my usual card base from Whisper White Thick card measuring 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm.

I then added a layer of Shaded Spruce card measuring 10 x 14 cm and cut a piece of Whisper White to measure 9.5 x 13.5 cm ready to decorate.

I carefully selected 3 pieces of sea glass and used my hot glue gun to add them to my card layer. I stamped the sentiment from the Greatest Part of Christmas stamp set in Shaded Spruce ink and added a piece of Wrapped in Plaid designer series paper measuring 9.5 x 3 cm. Before adding this layer to my card I wrapped it with some Shaded Spruce striped ribbon. I love the gold elements in both the ribbon and the paper…

My first thought for the berries was to use red rhinestones but they were too small so I found some larger pearls and coloured them with my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend before I added them to my card.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card. I’ve listed the Stampin’ Up! products I used below.

Happy crafting,

Heather x
