3 Layer stamping

Hello and thanks for joining me.

I am rather forgetful, it’s not my age, I’ve always been this way, lol. To help me out I have many lists. One of them is my ‘give it a go list’ and this card ticks off the ‘3 layer stamping’ written on this list…

Over the years I’ve seen lots of cards using this technique and I presumed it was more complicated than it really is. The lovely Ellen Budden shared her method for this type of card in The Joy Of Sets Facebook group a while back and that’s when I decided I really should just give it a go.

Click here to read Ellen’s blog post. I’m sure you’d be able to find lots of tutorials on YouTube if you prefer.

I made my usual card base from Whisper White thick card measuring 14.5 x 21 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm. My Mossy Meadow layers are 10 x 14 cm, 8 x 12 cm and 6 x 10 cm. My Whisper White layers for stamping measure 9.5 x 13.5 cm, 7.5 x 11.5 cm and 5.5 x 9.5 cm.

I layered the 3 Whisper White pieces together then used the Very Versailles stamp set. I used Crumb Cake ink for the script stamp, Mossy Meadow ink for the leaves and the other pattern; one was stamped full strength and the second one was stamped off about 3 times first.

After layering all of the stamped panels with their Mossy Meadow ones I wrapped some Copper Trim around them before adding them all to the card base. This trim is fun to play around with or you could just leave it as it comes on the roll at 1/4 inch wide.

I stamped the centre piece in Versamark ink, added Copper Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it. I then fussy cut it out and stamped the sentiment in the middle with Mossy Meadow ink. This was added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The heat embossing does mean that you lose a bit of the detail of the stamp but I reckon the shine is worth it…

Do you agree?

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card. Although I’ve ticked this technique off my list I’m pretty sure I’ll give it another go sometime soon.

I’ve listed all of the products used in today’s card below. You can click on any of the links to visit my friend Valerie’s online Stampin’ Up! store if you’d like to purchase any of them.

Happy crafting,

Heather x
