Heirloom Boutique card – CCC 227

Hello! Gosh it’s been a very long time since I joined in with the Creative Colour Challenges set by my lovely friend Vickie of www.VickieLouDesigns.blogspot.com But I just couldn’t resist the 3 colours of this week’s challenge! I used them to create this Heirloom Boutique card…

ABOUT MY CARD

This week’s colour challenge made me immediately think about flowers and leaves, so Heirloom Boutique was a natural choice of stamp and dies bundle. I stamped the flowers with Basic Black hybrid ink onto Basic White card. I have Melon Mambo and Barley Blush Stampin’ Blends but had to use my Garden Green watercolour pencil. And this hybrid ink is perfect for mixing your colouring mediums, without risking the black ink smudging. To get a smoother effect from my watercolour pencil I went over it with a Blender pen – it really does make such a difference.

I did think about simply layering up my Melon Mambo card and stamped Basic White card but suddenly decided to put them onto my card base diagonally for a change. I like that you get to see a bit more of the Melon Mambo layer this way. Although the sentiments from the Heirloom Boutique bundle are lovely, I am more likely to use a birthday card. So, I stamped Happy Birthday from Scalloped Blooms with Melon Mambo ink onto a rectangle of Barely Blush card.

I added some Barely Blush ribbon, an extra flower from Heirloom Boutique then finally splashed the whole card with my Barely Blush Shimmer Brush…

I’m really happy with the outcome and enjoyed just mindlessly colouring those flowers and leaves in the background.
