Friends Forever – featuring Stampin’ Up! Happy Tails and mirror stamping

Hello.

Today’s card uses a technique that’s new to me but is so easy that I will definitely use it again – mirror image stamping.

I thought it would be cute to have the two dogs facing each other, to go with the Friends Forever sentiment. The white dog is the one that is mirror stamped. To do this I inked it with Tuxedo Black Memento ink as normal but then I also added a large photopolymer stamp to a block the wrong way round, so that the smooth side is facing up. I stamped the dog onto the back of the other stamp…

This transfers the ink onto the back of the other stamp, which I then used to stamp onto Whisper White card just as normal…

Once you’ve stamped this you can turn your card over and you’ll see the outline of the image on the other side when you hold it to the light. I used this to sketch a few key points like the snout, ear, tail, paws and chest area on the ‘wrong’ side of the card…

This helps you to line it up in the punch…

This mirror image dog is ready to add to you card now!

My Whisper White card base measures 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side a 10.5 cm to create a normal portrait side opening card. I added a layer of Basic Black card measuring 10 x 14 cm. I added another layer of Whisper White card measuring 9.5 x 13.5 cm.

I used the Classic Label punch with Wood Textures designer series paper to create the fence.

I used Versamark ink onto Basic Black card and then used White Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it. I then added the spots to this dog the same way. I used the Dog Builder punch to cut it out. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add both dogs to the card.

The sentiment was also stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss powder. I then used a Rectangle Stitched framelit to cut it out.

When I used the punch each time it created a little heart so I added both of these to the card too – waste not, want not, lol. I added one either side of the sentiment.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card and technique. I’ve listed all of the products used in today’s card below. You can click on any of the products to visit my online Stampin’ Up! shop.

Happy crafting,

Heather x
