Hello, did you know that 6th January 2019 is National Shortbread Day? Well, you do now, lol.
Personally I think Shortbread deserves to be celebrated but not just 1 day a year! I had a little pack of mini shortbread and decided to make a gift container for it in honour of National Shortbread Day 2019…
I chose the colours for the, box not because they’re particularly relevant to shortbread but, because I also wanted to take part in a Facebook Group challenge with these colours…
I also thought that I shouldn’t completely ignore the Annual Catalogue and only concentrate on the new products. I’ve been like a typical spoilt kid after Christmas who abandons their favourite old toy in favour of a brand new one, ha ha!
So, I used Nature’s Poem designer series paper that measures 8 & 1/2 by 10 & 1/2 inches. On the short side I scored at 2, 4, 6, & 8 inches. On the short side I scored at 2 & 1/2 inches and at 8 & 1/2 inches.
I used my envelope punch board to punch at 2 & 1/2 inches along each of the horizontal folds on the long side. This gives the cracker style shape at the top of the box.
I cut up the score lines at the bottom of the short side to create the flaps for the base.
I added tear & tape adhesive to the 1/2 inch panel to start forming the box. I then glued the bottom panels to create the base. I popped in my shortbread and then used Grapefruit Grove twine from the Nature’s Twine set to close the top of the box. I frayed the ends of the twine to make it look a bit more rustic and almost like tassels.
To decorate the front of the box I stamped Treat Yourself from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set in Grapefruit Grove ink onto Whisper White card. I cut this using Layering Circles framelits dies, along with a scalloped circle from Grapefruit Grove card.
I then used my Sprig Punch on Blackberry Bliss card and my Leaf Punch on Old Olive card and added them to my Grapefruit Grove card circle, some on the top and some on the bottom. I then added the stamped circle on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
