Whenever a new Stampin’ Up! catalogue launches I get wowed by all the new products and tend to neglect some of my favourite sets. Today, I’ve given myself a shake and looked outside of the box of new stuff for this colour challenge. I picked the Happiness Abounds bundle and the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder and here’s the result..
I stamped the flowers and leaves onto some scraps of Shimmery White card with Versamark ink, added white embossing powder and heat set it. I then added some Fresh Freesia and Soft Sea Foam ink onto clear blocks and used my Water Painters to add a wash of colour over the heat embossed images. The embossing resists the colour so the white lines pop against it.
You can either add ink to your clear blocks for watercolouring by using you ink pad, a refill bottle or just scribble on it with a Stampin’ Write marker – use whatever you have!
After the initial wash of colour you can go back and add more if you want, but try not to get the shimmery card too wet. If you want to play with the colour more I’d suggest using Fluid 300 paper as it can really withstand lots of water.
I love this effect!
Once these images were fully dry I cut them with the Blossoming Happiness dies. I also used this die set to add texture to the Night Of Navy card stock and to cut the top of the piece of Basic White card I dry embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D folder.
I stamped the happy birthday from the Happiness Abounds stamp set with Night of Navy ink onto a scrap of Basic White card and fussy cut it.
I curled 2 corners of the white layer and ruffled the die cut edge for even more texture then piled the flowers, leaves and sentiment on top, using dimensionals…
My final touches were some splashes of Fresh Freesia ink, again with a Water Painter, and some Heart Pearls.
My card layers are as follows:
- Basic White Thick card for the base, measuring 21 x 14.5cm, scored & folded on the long side at 10.5 cm
- Night of Navy card measuring 10 x 14 cm
- Basic White card for the embossed layer measuring 9 x 13 cm
