Hello.
If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you’ll know that on a Thursday I share projects made by my crafty friends Verity, Gez & Jill. We all belong to the same big team; The Pootlers. Earlier this week Gez & Jill set a challenge in our team group to create a card in Jill’s favourite ‘Clean And Simple’ style or Gez’s beloved ‘Shabby Chic’ style.
I personally love Clean And Simple but creating a card in that style really isn’t much of a challenge so I chose to go with the more difficult option (for me anyway!) of Shabby Chic. Here’s the card I created….
I have debated whether to share this card with you or not, as it’s just not me, but I decided that as I’d already left my comfort zone to make the card that I might as well abandon my comfort zone and share it publicly! Lol.
I’m really not sure if I’ve mastered the Chic part, but it sure is Shabby. It actually distressed me to distress my beautiful card and designer series paper in this way.
I made a Sahara Sand card base and added a layer of Whisper White with the edges distressed and inked with Petal Pink. On top of that I added some Petal Pink vellum that I also distressed the edges and embossed with the Scripty 3D embossing folder. I even forced myself to put a few tears into the vellum, yikes!
I cut a strip of Woven Threads designer series paper and ripped the ends of it and distressed the edges. I added Crumb Cake ink to the edges and stamped the foliage from the Very Versailles onto ink (I stamped off first to lighten the effect of the stamping)
I added squares of Whisper White with the edges inked with Crumb Cake, Petal Pink card stamped with the script from Very Versailles stamp set in Petal Pink ink and then another piece of the Woven Threads paper stamped with the Crackle Paint stamp and Crumb Cake ink.
My sentiment is also from Very Versailles but I masked off the first word. This is stamped in Crumb Cake ink onto Woven Threads paper. I then cut this with the oval die from the Detailed Bands set. I added this to my card with Stamping Dimensionals. I used the leaves from the same set of dies with Crumb Cake card to add under my flower.
The flower comes from the Band Together stamp set and was stamped with Crumb Cake ink onto Shimmery White card and watercolored with Petal Pink ink and an Aquapainter. This was cut with the corresponding die from the Detailed Bands set and then popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some Linen Thread tied in a bow and 3 little pearls to complete my card.
Clean And Simple (CAS) cards use a lot less products and take a lot less time to create, so maybe that’s why I prefer to make them. Ha ha.
I don’t think I’m converted to Shabby Chic but it was fun to give it a try. Thank you for the challenge Jill & Gez.
I’ve listed the many products I used for this card below. You can click on any of the links to visit my online Stampin’ Up! store to shop with me as your independent demonstrator.
Happy crafting,
