Hello and thanks for joining me.
I’ve made a few of these ‘exploding’ cards (thankfully they don’t actually explode, lol) since discovering an easy to follow tutorial from my friend Gez of www.Nigezza.co.uk. Here’s my latest version using products from the Follow Your Art suite…
If you want the measurements and directions for the box card itself then please click here to visit Gez’s blog or check out her tutorial here…
For my version I’ve used Basic Gray card for my base and decorated with panels of the Follow Your Art designer series paper. Instead of using strips of card for my pop up decorations I’ve used strips of Window Sheet so that the elements appear to float…
The decorations were stamped with Memento ink onto Whisper White card and coloured with Stampin’ Blends then cut with the Arts & Crafts dies. I also cut extra pieces from Whisper White card using the same dies. When you colour with Stampin’ Blends it does bleed through to the back of the card and I didn’t really want that to be on show so I sandwiched the Window Sheet strips between a coloured die cut and a plain one. The view from the back is much cleaner this way…
I stamped the sentiment from the It Starts With Art stamp set in Calypso Coral ink onto Whisper White card and cut it with a Rectangle Stitched die. I decorated the 3 flaps with various die cuts using Arts & Craft dies and pieces from the Follow Your Art embellishment kit. I also added a couple of the tiny paper clips from the kit to my Window Sheet strips.
When adding all of the pieces just be careful to make sure that the card still folds up to fit into a 5″ x 7″ envelope, unless you want to make your own envelope or box for the card.
I really enjoyed making this card and now just need to decide which of my crafty friends I should send it to.
I’ve listed the products used below and you can click on any of the links if you’d like to purchase them.
Happy crafting,
Heather x
