Pressed Petals lip balm box

Hello and thanks for joining me.

My niece absolutely loves Burt’s Bees lip balms and was somewhat distraught last week when she broke her Pomegranate one. I knew I had a spare one so decided that I’d give it to her in a pretty box.

Now, I decided this kind of last minute before going to visit her and hurriedly took some photos before I left. What I should have done is check that the photos were ok but I didn’t! The main photo with the box closed was totally out of focus so this is the only one I have that is worthy of sharing with you…

Normally when I make a box I add individual panels of designer series paper to each side but as this beautiful Pressed Petals Speciality Designer Series Paper is lightweight I decided to simply wrap it all the way round.

I started with a piece of Merry Merlot card that measures 5 & 1/2 inches by 4 & 1/2 inches. I scored this on the long side at 1 inch, 4 inches and 5 inches. I also scored the short side at 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches and 4 inches.

I added my piece of Pressed Petals paper that measured 2 & 7/8ths inches by 4 & 1/2 inches and burnished the score lines and cut as shown below…

I just laid my bone folder across the middle to flatten it out a bit

You’ll see that I completely removed 2 sections from the top of the middle panel and created a notch with my 1/2 inch punch. This will be the front of the box.

Add your preferred adhesive to the narrow panel and add it to the back of the first panel to form the box. Then fold and glue the bottom flaps, starting with the sides, then the back and finally the front one.

To decorate the front I added a piece of Burlap ribbon. I stamped the Just For You stamp from the Wildly Happy set in Merry Merlot ink onto Crumb Cake card and cut it with my Classic Label punch. I also added a bow made from Crumb Cake twine with a glue dot. This twine is part of the Nature’s Twine pack.

It’s now ready to pop in the lip balm and close the lid.

You’ll just have to take my word for it that it looks lovely when lying on it’s side too, lol.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this project. I’ve listed the products I used below and you can click on the links if you’d like to purchase any of them.

Happy crafting,

Heather x
