Hello and thanks for joining me. For a number of reasons, I’ve not been able to spend much time crafting this week so I decided that I would combine the Sketch Challenge set by Victoria Littlewood and the Colour challenge set by Amanda Charlesworth over in the Stampin’ For All Facebook Group this week.
Here’s the sketch..
And the colours selected by Amanda were:
As if that wasn’t enough of a challenge I decided to use a style of card that I’m not really comfortable with; vintage or shabby chic. My efforts so far have just looked shabby! Lol.
I thought that the Very Versailles stamp set would be perfect and here’s what I made with it…
I used Very Vanilla for my card base. This measures 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm.
I cut a piece of Soft Sea Foam card to measure 10 x 14 cm, stamped the leaves in Soft Sea Foam ink and added some of the same ink to the distressed edges/
I cut a piece of Balmy Blue card to measure 5 x 10 cm and stamped the script in Balmy Blue ink. I distressed the edges of this a bit more and inked them with Petal Pink. I also crumpled this a little bit before adding it to the card for a bit more texture.
For the horizontal piece of the sketch I wanted to use some cream lace but as I didn’t have any, I compromised with a Detailed Lace die cut from Very Vanilla card. Again, I added a little bit of Petal Pink ink with a sponge dauber and tore a part of it off to use on my card – eek! I much prefer the precision of my trimmer or snips.
The final panel is Petal Pink card with Petal Pink ink. Once more I distressed the edges and added more ink with the sponge dauber.
I’m still not convinced that I’ve mastered the ‘chic’ part but it’s my best effort so far, lol.
The sketch challenge ends Sunday 21 July 2019 and the Colour challenge ends on Tuesday 23 July 2019 so there’s still time to join in. This friendly and supportive group have 2 challenges most week which are great for pushing you out of your crafting comfort zone. Come and join us, the more the merrier!
I’ve listed the products I’ve used below. If you’d like to purchase any of them just click the link to visit my friend Valerie’s online Stampin’ Up! store.
Happy crafting,
