Today I want to show you a set of note cards and a box for them that were created for a recent workshop. The idea came from a team event last month where we made 5 note cards and a side opening box for them. The cards I designed for the workshop are landscape and we were only making 3 so I resized the box and made it open at the top instead…
The cards were made with the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes which measure 5 x 3 & 1/2 inches. I added a card layer which measures 4 & 7/8 inches by 3 & 3/8 inches (just 1/8th of an inch shorter on each side). I then added a layer of Gingham Gala paper which measures 4 & 3/4 inches by 3 & 1/4 inches (another 1/8th of an inch shorter than the card layer).
I added a 1 inch strip of card to the centre of the card and some Polka Dot ribbon. I used my Sprig punch on card and vellum to add on to of the ribbon. I stamped the flowers from Label Me Pretty onto card in the same ink colour as the card and cut it with the Pretty Label Punch. I also stamped the thank you sentiment from the same set in the same ink onto Whisper White card and cut this with my Layering Circles dies. Or you could use the 1 & 3/8 inch scallop circle punch as we did in our workshop, as it’s much easier than transporting a Big Shot, lol.
The circle is added to the label and then added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The final touch is a few of the Gingham Gala adhesive backed sequins.
We made cards with all of the lovely fresh colours in the Gingham Gala paper. We then made boxes from Lemon Lime Twist card.
To make the boxes I cut pieces of Lemon Lime Twist to measure 11 inches by 7 & 1/2 inches. On the long side I scored at 1 inch then at 5 inches, 6 inches and 10 inches. Turn the card 90 degrees and score on the short side at 1 inch and 6 & 1/2 inches. Cut up the score lines on each long side to the next horizontal score line and then cut out wedges from the square tabs (but not the rectangle ones). I glued 4 of the tabs to form the box part and then the other 2 to form the lid.
To decorate the box I added a panel of Whisper White card measuring 3 & 7/8 inches by 2 & 7/8 inches and then a piece of Gingham Gala paper that measures 3 & 3/4 inches by 2 & 3/4 inches. I stamped the ‘You’re the Best’ sentiment and label frame from Label Me Pretty and cut with the Pretty Label punch. Again, I added sprigs from card and vellum and popped the label up with dimensionals. I used some of the fabulous Lemon Lime Twist Ruffled Ribbon to keep the box closed and another of those cute sequins…
The ladies at the workshop loved making these, which of course makes me happy! Why don’t you give them a go too?
