Keeping it simple with Stampin’ Up! Climbing Orchid

Hello!  I’m sorry that I’ve not shared a project with you for a couple of days.  Unfortunately, my available time for crafting was unexpectedly short this week.  I’ve been enjoying the Edinburgh Festival shows but not the extra travel time it creates for those of us that work in the city.

Anyhow, lack of time was my inspiration for this card.  The Climbing Orchid stamp set coordinates with the Orchid Builder framelits and allows you to do double layer stamping and die cutting which you can build up into pretty realistic looking orchid creations.  But you don’t have to!  My card is single layer stamping and only uses 6 of the 28 stamps available from the set and I didn’t use any framelits…

Sometimes when we create cards and have an abundance of beautiful products to use we try and use lots of them on one card.  I know I’m guilty of this sometimes, I like to use the stamps, the dies, the designer series paper, the trinkets, ribbons and other embellishments that all match.  After all, this is one of the reasons I love Stampin’ Up! – it’s so easy to coordinate all the different elements as the colours match perfectly.

However, sometimes keeping it simple has just as much impact.  Many people love to receive a handmade card that just lets them know that they are in your thoughts and it doesn’t actually have to be elaborate to deliver your message.

My card base is Flirty Flamingo and measures 29 x 10.5 cm and is scored at 14.5cm to create a portrait tent fold. My Whisper White layer is 14 x 10 cm.

I stamped the orchids in Flirty Flamingo ink, the stems and the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink and the leaves in Mint Macaron ink.  The only other thing I did was to add some Wink of Stella to the flower centres and to the leaves to pull in some of the colour and add shimmer.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project (better late than never) and if you’d like to purchase any of the products I’ve used they are listed below.  Just click on any of them to visit my online Stampin’ Up! shop.

But remember, once you’ve made a card, please send it!  #makeacardsendacard

Happy crafting,

Heather x
