Pretty in Powder Pink

I have slowly fallen in love with Powder Pink. When it was launched as part of the 2017-2019 In Colors my eyes were immediately drawn to the bolder colours first, but now I love it!

I used it as my base for these pretty boxes

My decoration for the boxes comes from a Sale-A-Bration freebie; Sweet Soirée Memories and More cards.

You probably notice that 1 box is slightly smaller than the other, that’s because I managed to get 2 of them from 1 sheet of A4. Crafty, eh?

One fits a votive candle….

And the other has some chocolates in it…

I think both make rather sweet gifts.

To make the larger one cut your A4 sheet to 8.25 inches x 6 inches. Save the rest of the card for your smaller box.

Score on the long side at 2, 4, 6 & 8 inches.

Score on the short side at 2, 4, 5.25 inches.

Back on the long side, score at 3 & 7 inches from the top to the first horizontal score line. Use the bottom of that score line to line up diagonal score lines to the corners of the horizontal score line below. This will help the top fold neatly.  (This will make more sense if you watch the video!)

Take 2 matching Sweet Soirée cards and cut 4 panels measuring 1.75 x 1.75 inches plus 2 panels of 1 x 1.75 inches.

Watch this quick video of the scoring, cutting and assembly stages for the smaller box:

The measurements for the smaller box are:

  • Card = the remains of your A4 sheet
  • Score on the long side at 2, 4, 6 & 8 inches
  • Score on the short side at 2, 4 & 5 inches
  • Score on the short side at 3 & 7 inches (as with larger box, add diagonal score lines)
  • 4 Sweet Soirée panels measuring 1.75 x 1.75 inches
  • 2 Sweet Soirée panels measuring 0.75 x 1.75 inches

Decorate your boxes as appropriate and decide how you want to close them. With the larger one I punched holes and used ribbon. On the smaller one I used a library clip.  The choice is yours!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these projects. I’d love to read your comments.

If you’d like to make this I’ve included a list of the products I used below.  Just click on any of the images to visit my online shop.

Happy crafting,

Heather x
