I took part in a colour challenge at the weekend, just for fun, over at the Old Stables Crafty Hangout on Facebook. Sometimes you just need a little push in a new direction to recharge your creativity and this type of challenge is great for that. Our challenge was to use 3 of the “2016-2018 in colors”, that we’ll be saying a sad farewell to on 31st May 2018.
I will be very sad to see some of these colours go, I must remember to stock up while I still can.
As this was my first ever colour challenge I decided to jump in with both feet and actually use all of the colours! Lol
I have also been itching to get my new Sale-A-Bration freebie Eclectic Expressions stamp set inky so decided it would be perfect for the challenge. Here’s what I created….
Although I probably wouldn’t have used all of these colours together before, I think it actually suits the eclectic feel of this stamp set. Such a colourful card clearly needs a colourful envelope so it got a similar treatment.
My card base is Flirty Flamingo, measuring 10.5cm x 29cm, scored and folded at 14.5cm to create a tent fold. The next layer is Dapper Denim measuring 10 x 14 cm. Then I added a Sweet Sugarplum layer measuring 9.5 x 13.5cm. My Whisper White layer measured 9 x 13cm.
I used the larger circle stamp from Eclectic Expressions in a random pattern in all 5 colours. I also used one of the smaller stamps to add in more detail in 2 of the colours.
I added a piece of Dapper Denim ruched ribbon that I picked up in the Clearance Rack recently as it has already retired. The next best thing to a free product is a dramatically reduced one, right?
My Happy Birthday sentiment comes from Eclectic Expressions too and was inked in Sweet Sugarplum on Whisper White and then backed with Sweet Sugarplum card. 3 of the Dapper Denim glitter enamel dots just finished this off nicely.
Eclectic Expression stamp set is only available as a free product during Sale-A-Bration. If you spend £45 (plus P&P) in my online shop before 31 March 2018 this is one of the many products you can choose as your FREEBIE!
