Watercolour challenge featuring Rooted In Nature

Hello everyone, I hope you are well.

The lovely Tricia Smith set us another challenge in her ‘Crafty Stamping Club – Smiths Stampers & Friends‘ Facebook group. This time she asked us to create a simple card with water colour effect and stamp over the colour in black.

Here’s my entry…

I made a card base from Balmy Blue card measuring 21 x 14.5 cm, scored and folded on the long side at 10.5 cm.

I cut a piece of Crumb Cake card to measure 10 x 14 cm and some Shimmery White card to 9.5 x 13.5 cm

I sprayed the Shimmery White card with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer and added some Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake inks onto separate clear blocks. I then dipped my paint brush in water and mixed it with the ink before applying it to the damp card. I used my heat gun to help this dry.

Once dry I used my paint brush to drop more water onto the card which caused those little lighter patches. I used a piece of kitchen towel to absorb the excess water.

I then splattered the card with both ink colours to add a bit more detail. This is always great fun!

When the card was dry again I stamped the tree from Rooted In Nature using Memento tuxedo black ink. I actually did this in my Stamparatus to make sure I got a really solid image.

I added the Shimmery White layer to the Crumb Cake one, added the vanilla ribbon from the Forever Greenery combo trim pack and tied it in a knot. I then added these layers to my card base.

The sentiment also comes from the Rooted In Nature stamp set and I used Crumb Cake ink onto Shimmery White card then cut each of the 3 words apart. I added them to the card with Adhesive Strips and then added a few Champagne rhinestones to finish the card off.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card. Why not join in the fun? Tricia’s current challenge runs until Friday 3 July 2020; but she’s always got a challenge up her sleeve for us. It keeps me on my creative toes! And it’s a great place to look for some inspiration. Click here to take a look.
