Basket of Blooms in Black & White

Hello everyone.

Along with 2 of my closest Stampin’ Up! demonstrator friends, Valerie Broomfield and Elaine Smith, I set up a public Facebook group a few days ago called Crafty Scots Corner (you don’t have to be Scottish to join in!). We then agreed that our first challenge in the group was to create a Black & White only project. So far we’ve had cards, a quilt and a cake entered!

So I thought I should join in the fun and maybe inspire more people to take part. Here’s my card…

My card base is made with Whisper White Thick card measuring 29 x 10.5 cm, scored and folded at 14.5 cm to create a portrait tent fold. I then added a layer of Basic Black card measuring 10 x 14 cm and cut a piece of Whisper White card for stamping to measure 9.5 x 13.5 cm.

I added the ‘splashes’ with Memento ink using a stamp from the Forever Fern stamp set. I then stamped 3 of the flowers from Basket of Blooms onto another piece of Whisper White card and cut them with the Small Bloom punch. I added these to the stamped layer with a mini Stampin’ Dimensional after curling the petals downwards.

I stamped 2 different flowers from the Basket of Blooms set onto Basic Black card with VersaMark ink, added White Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set them. These were also cut with the Small Bloom punch but I curled the petals upwards with these and just glued them to the card front.

I stamped the Hello sentiment from Forever Fern with VersaMark ink onto Basic Black card measuring 9.5 x 1.3 cm, added White Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it.

I did consider adding some bling but instead I added dots of the Frost White Shimmer paint with a cocktail stick. I think this gives that extra little detail and texture without distracting from the Black & White theme.

I hope you like today’s card and might even decide to join in with our facebook group’s challenge.

Happy crafting,
